Celeste is currently an adjunct professor at Adelphi University where she teaches graduate students ways to develop artistic and creative expression in young children. She gained her expertise through her extensive experience working with children. She was the Site Director of a before and after school program for kindergarten through sixth grade. Her responsibilities included training new staff, planning, and developing cross-curricular activities. Aside from her experience as a substitute teacher in the Council Rock School District in Pennsylvania, she participated in the Cultural Arts in Progress (CAPS) program. This program immerses children in an in-depth visual art experience. Her self-designed classes focused on the expressive nature of art through multi-media techniques for children ages 3 ½ to 8. Celeste was instrumental in developing and teaching a four-year-old program in a New York State accredited preschool on Long Island. During this time, she also gave workshops to assist teachers with ways to integrate the arts into preschool programs at the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) conferences. Celeste is a New York State certified art teacher and has experience working in public schools as an elementary and secondary school visual arts teacher on Long Island. Her artwork is displayed in private collections and she continues to be a commissioned artist. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in art education from Indiana University and her Master of Art degree in Fine Arts from Long Island University. l l l
Kathlyn is a New York State and New York City certified art teacher for Kindergarten through grade 12. She has ten years of experience teaching art in a public elementary school in Brooklyn. Her role has enabled her to work closely with cultural institutions in dance, theater, and music, and it has allowed her to integrate her curriculum with the design and creation of scenery and costumes with her students for performances. She was recently named "Teacher of the Year" by National Dance Institute in Manhattan. She is responsible for the development and display of children’s artwork for other large, literacy-based school events. Kathlyn has also worked with her students in creating artwork for a charity organization. As a result of her development of an Art Club for gifted young artists, their design for a mural is presently seen in the local community. An annual art exhibit of her five hundred+ students’ work has been organized by Kathlyn for the past seven years for the entire school community to experience. Part of Kathlyn’s learning experiences include teaching art to children in a homeless shelter and at a Saturday art program given by the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. She is a commissioned artist whose work is displayed in private collections. Kathlyn received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Long Island University, holds a certificate in art education from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, and has a Master of Science degree in Art and Design Education from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. l l l
